Gary grew up in Marathon, Ontario, where he attended Marathon High School and discovered a love for music, community, and service that would guide his life. His journey eventually led him to Gorrie, Ontario, where he devoted himself to ministry, family, and helping others grow in faith.
For many years, Gary served as pastor at Wallenstein Bible Chapel, where he inspired congregants through his humility, guidance, and unwavering dedication to his faith. Members of the chapel remember him not only as a spiritual leader, but as a mentor, friend, and source of encouragement during both joyous and challenging times. His genuine warmth, patience, and kindness made him a pillar of the community and a trusted confidant for many.
Colleagues and friends have shared heartfelt tributes reflecting his impact. One worship ministry colleague said, “Gary was, to date, the most humble and kind man I had the privilege of knowing. I had the honour of serving with him through the worship ministry, and he had a massive influence not only on my love of music but also on my life in general. He was a great mentor and friend. He will be missed immensely.”
Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Service-Goodkey, who stood faithfully by his side throughout his years of ministry and service.
